leather pillow!

Ever tried sewing upholstery-weight leather on a home sewing machine? Not fun!! Hint: the special leather needles are not optional.

Below: my new leather throw pillow for the couch! This project made me very cranky.

what i did last weekend

I made another pillow for the couch! I had the idea to make a zig-zag pillow a while ago, and found this lovely tutorial, which I modified somewhat. I also used their genius triangle tutorial; it really helped to make the triangles turn out cleaner and cut down on time too.

The third zig from the top (the warm grey one) was cut out of the same fabric as the geometric pillow on the right, which was leftover from the curtain that hides our office. I also wanted to use the blue color in the pillow, but the blue sections of the print just weren't big enough. The other fabrics are from my scrap piles, mostly leftovers from work.
